If you're in the mood to dust off your dancing shoes there's a Cochrane Social Dance happening this weekend.

Organizer Marc Gosselin says anyone who is interested in getting out for some exercise and socializing is welcome to come out and give it a try.

"The dance is open to everybody. All levels of dancers, beginners, intermediate and advanced. At the first dance we had a young couple with a baby in a carrier taking lessons."

He says dancers can expect all forms of ballroom dancing.

"Basically Cha Cha's, Rumba's, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, we have some country, two-step and triple two."

The event begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the RancheHouse.

It will start off with a one-hour free waltz dance lesson.

The lesson will be followed by a mix of other social dancing for the remainder of the evening.

Alcohol is not permitted at the dance but there will be water, soft drinks and other snacks available for $1.

You can purchase your ticket in advance for $10 or at the door for $15 per person.
