Sunshine Village skiers and snowboarders are out carving earlier than they have been in 30 years.

Thanks to an early snowfall in October, the resort was able to open November 3, being the first in Alberta to open for the 2016-2017 season. Even though the temperatures have been warmer than seasonal, the 70 cm base stayed solid.

Lindsay Gallagher, Sunshine Village, Media and Marketing Coordinator, says all the chair lifts, expect the Goats Eye lift, are open and ready to go. This time of year they see a lot of hard core Bow Valley people out on the slopes and live to ride.

“A lot of our eager Bow Valley people are out for sure, and seeing some Calgary weekend warriors are happy to be out so early.”

Cochrane skiers and snowboarders will be happy to know over 40 cm has fallen this week and more expected this weekend.
