The Cochrane Firefighters are preparing to take on the Cochrane Generals in a fundraising hockey game.

Local firefighter Chris Chyka says they haven't squared off against the Generals before.

Chyka says "We have played the Calgary Flames Alumni team before, we've played the RCMP on Family Day and we've played the Airdrie Firefighters before but this is a first for us."

He says "We're just trying to figure out the ins and outs, we just want it to be successful. We want to hand over an amount of money but we're not sure what that will look like at this point. Just trying to organize it and hopefully we'll make it an annual event. Just trying to get this up and off the ground is where we're at, at this point."

Money raised from the event will go to help replace furniture in the hall at the Cochrane Royal Canadian Legion.

The game will go on Friday, December 6th at 7:30 pm at the Cochrane Arena.

TIckets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and students and kids under 6 are free.
