The Royal Canadian Legion in Cochrane is a busy place.

There are several weekly events including darts on Monday, pool and crib on Wednesdays, they play Euchre and Texas Hold em on Thursdays and Friday's they have their weekly BBQ where everyone is welcome including children. Then on Saturdays they have Shuffleboard and events and the third Sunday of every month they have an open-mic jam session.

Treasurer Betty Mazurik says the Legion is a community group and a community hall and they are open to the public for their many weekly events.

The Legion is also available for hall rentals and there are smaller rooms available for business meetings.

She says "It's where people come to meet. We have a lot of events going on. We are open to the community you don't have to be a legion member to come into the legion. You do not have to be affiliated with the military to come into the legion. To become a Legion member, you just have to be a Canadian citizen and at least 18 years old."

Mazurik says they're hosting a deuling pianos event on November 21 and a New Years Eve dinner and dance event featuring the band the Smoking Aces.

Money made at their events goes to support the Cochrane Legion as well as local veterans.
