Two Cochrane business owners are sending a big thank you to the community.

Mehtab East Indian Cuisine will celebrate its eight year anniversary in Cochrane June 25, and the owners couldn't be happier.

Five years ago, their friend/ previous owner could no longer run the restaurant leading the way for Jag Deep Thind and his wife Gunjeet to take over.

Thind says the first time the two came to Cochrane, they were sold.

"When we came to see the place, I hadn't even seen the restaurant because it wasn't open for the day yet," he explains. "But we saw the community around, and it clicked in my mind, this is where we want to be."

The couple moved to Cochrane from Calgary in 2013, two years into owning it, something they will never regret.

"It was the best decision of our life, we have amazing people, an amazing community to live in, and work with. Cochrane is just like a family to us, people come and hug us, and meet us all the time. My little one is three and a half now, she's always here playing around, sometimes she'll have dinner or lunch with the kids coming around here."

The duo say they can't thank the community enough for the warm welcome and support.

"We just want to say thank you, thanks for all the love, all the support. We've got eight awards this year, that's the feedback we're getting. We'll always do the best that we can, we'll always try to do the best for the community."

The restaurant will have a special 6 course tasting menu on Saturday June 25 to celebrate.
