It may be getting cold here, but sun was shining in Bermuda last week at the World Rugby Classic.

Tyler Hawes, Bow Valley Rugby Club, Director, was invited to represent Canada in this high level 10-day tournament.

Hawes, who has played professional and semi-professional rugby says the tournament invite only comes to players who maintain a high standard on and off the pitch.

The boys from Canada did not disappoint. Beating Italy 17-0 got them a spot in the Plate Final, where they had a tough loss (18-15) against France in overtime.  Hawes didn’t accumulate any points, but said he contributed to many trys, and made a lot of tackles.

Hawes has lived in 7 different countries and has travelled the world playing this hard hitting sport.

"It was a great experience. Rugby is a game for life and can take you all over the world, and I am living proof of that."

These days, Hawes spends most of his time coaching the Bow Valley Men’s Rugby team and building the Bow Valley Rugby Club for junior players, he will continue to play in the Bermuda Classic as long as he is invited.
