Spring Break will have a different look and feel for the second year.

Most students across the province will break for Easter this Friday (April 2) and don't return to their classrooms until Monday, April 12.

Typically the spring break is a prime time for travel abroad, however, that is strongly discouraged in wake of the continued global health crisis.

With the recent climb of COVID-19 cases across the province, Dr. Deena Hinshaw continues to remind Albertans of the consequences of the actions we take during spring break.

Dr. Hinshaw says that "The choices we make now will determine if cases are still growing in the days after Easter." She continues to say that "Spring is here and I ask that all of us use that fact for encouragement to hang on just a few months longer."

Schools right across the province are seeing a climb in active Cases of COVID-19, including our local schools. According to the AHS website, Bow Valley High School is still listed under Outbreak Status reporting 10+ cases. Elizabeth Barrett Elementary, Fireside School and Cochrane High have also been placed on the school status map under Alert Status, reporting between two and four cases, and just this week, Cochrane's Holy Spirit Catholic School reported its first case of COVID-19.

In the broader Springbank area -Springbank Community High School, Springbank Middle School and the Edge School are all listed under Outbreak Status, reporting between five and nine cases, and Public Health is currently investigating a case of COVID-19 at École Elbow Valley Elementary School.

Despite the rise in cases, the province is not planning to delay a return to the classroom after the Easter break.
