The average score for an adult male playing a round of 18 holes of golf is 98.

Cade Farrow, who is thirteen, shot a 61 (from the white tees) this summer at the Cochrane Golf Course and set a new course record. It is what is called a non-competitive course record and Manager, Brad Walz is very happy to honour the record saying "It is unofficial, it wasn't during a tournament event that sort of thing but nonetheless, what a score that was. I'm very proud of him."

The last time a score like that was achieved was back in the '90s by the course's pro, Dave Rands, from the blue tees. Brad was quick to point out that both Cade and Dave are lefties so perhaps that is the key to a 61. Brad adds, "I just got nothing but praise for Cade. It's quite amazing, he's very athletic obviously and has some tutoring I understand." Cade's dad who is a professional golfer himself has offered some tips to Cade.

Typically, you would expect to hear that a person of Cade's age has been playing from a very tender age. In Cade's case, he has only been playing seriously for about a year!

Cade is pretty low-key about the amazing achievement saying, "I was playing one day, here, and I played pretty good and shot a 61 on 18 holes."

So, what is the secret to such a great score, Cade says, "I have a screen in my garage, for the winter and then in the summer I go out almost every day."

Dawn Farrow, Cade's mom says that he has been known to golf 36 rounds in a day. She adds, "He is definitely extremely passionate about it since he started. Hockey was canceled last year so he asked for the hitting mat and a putting mat for Christmas and he spent the entire winter doing that. He was shoveling snow out the field behind us hitting balls and practicing for four or five hours a day."

Cade shares his future plans, "I want to go to college, and hopefully play in the PGA one day."

Combine the talent, athleticism, passion, and determination that Cade Farrow has, and really, the sky is the limit.

Congratulations Cade, on your record-setting accomplishment.
