Dr Deena Hinshaw was able to relay encouraging numbers in her COVID 19 update on Friday. A record number 6455 tests were performed in the past 24 hours identifying only 7 new cases. That is the lowest new case number recorded since March 12. Dr Hinshaw said, "Today's numbers mark an occasion to be celebrated." Alberta's top doctor is also encouraged by the number of active cases trending downward.

  • 328 active cases
  • 44 people in hospital with 6 in ICU
  • 6624 people have recovered
  • no new deaths to report

Hinshaw recognizes that the success in flattening the curve is due to the sacrifices made by Albertans. "One especially difficult sacrifice has been being unable to our loved ones receiving care in hospitals. Though this restriction was mad to protect safety of patients and our health care workers. I know this has caused hardship."

Effective tomorrow Alberta Health Services will be releasing updated visitation guidelines for all patients in both acute outpatient and in-patient settings. You can access updated guidelines here
