Motorists may want to become accustomed to using the 5th Ave. exit to enter downtown Cochrane and Griffin Rd. from Hwy. 1A in preparation for an upcoming short-term major intersection project.

Signage has now been added along Centre Ave. to advise motorists the anticipated 1st St. and Centre Ave. closure will begin on Aug. 30.

Town officials explain full closure is required to remove and replace both the water main and storm system infrastructure. Crews will also replace East Cochrane's storm system.

Weather permitting, it is anticipated to take four weeks to complete.

Centre Ave. is a major route utilized by motorists from Hwy. 1A and those travelling the corridor to reach Griffin Rd. or areas of downtown Cochrane, particularly The Quarry.
