Four members of Cochrane Fire Services have been provincially recognized and have received the Alberta Emergency Services Medal (AESM) and Bronze Bar Rosette. 

In a news release sent out by the Town of Cochrane “It is such an honour to work alongside such a dedicated group of individuals who are committed to serving our community,” said Chief Polley, Town of Cochrane. “I would like to personally congratulate everyone for their incredible accomplishment and remarkable years of service.”

On hand to help present the medals was Airdrie-Cochrane MLA Pete Guthrie and Mayor Jeff Genung. 

This year, Cochrane recognizes the following recipients of the AESM and Bronze Bar Rosette:

12 years

  • Mike Monaghan, 1st Class Firefighter, Town of Cochrane. 

22 years 

  • Dot Gillis, Administrative Assistant - Fire Services, Town of Cochrane (Retired).
  • Jay Wieliczko, Fire Prevention Officer, Town of Cochrane.
  • Joe Zelmer, Senior Fire Fighter, Town of Cochrane.
