Cochrane has had great representation at the 2016 Calgary Stampede Rodeo.

A local Steer Wrestler has qualified for the $100,000 Sunday competition at the Calgary Stampede Rodeo.

Tanner Milan made it to the final four in pool A , tying for third with K.C Jones, from Decatur, Texas.

Mike Labelle, Rodeo Announcer, says he's not surprised to see Tanner qualify.

"He's one of those guys, you talk about a two time Canadian champion, he just seems to have the knack for competing aggressively, and winning rodeos when it counts," he says. "As a Canadian contingent at the Stampede, which we don't have very much of, he represents us very well."

That's not the only Cochranite you'll find at the rodeo, Tanner's brother, Baillie Milan is a what's known as a hazer.

"He works with the steer wrestlers, and he becomes a team member to each one of the guys as they make their run. At the end of the day he is garnered as one of the great bulldogging hazers we have in professional rodeo. Whether it's the Canadian finals, or the National Finals Rodeo, you'll find Baillie there. He's just one of those guys that people rely on, so that they can make the best run they possibly can in steer wrestling."

Tanner Milan will compete for the big $100,000 prize on Sunday July 17.
