Local women will be able to access a mobile mammography clinic in Cochrane later this month.

According to health officials, having a mammogram is the best way for the early detection of breast cancer.

As part of Alberta Health Services' efforts to encourage more women to be proactive with regular screening, they are bringing digital mammography services to over 100 rural communities throughout the province.

The mobile testing units provide the same high-quality screening to women found in clinics and offer an added convenience.

Women aged 50 to 74, who fall into a higher risk category are eligible to book their appointment for a mammogram, and anyone under the age of 50, will need a referral from a physician in order to book an appointment.

All COVID-19 health and safety protocols are in place at the mobile clinics.

The mobile testing unit will be in Cochrane from August 9 to August 18, If you would like to book an appointment you can call 1-800-667-0604.
