The newest team in the Alberta Female Junior Hockey League (AFJHL), the Calgary Chaos will host its first ever fall tryout camp in just over a week.

The Chaos call Cochrane home, and are looking for local girls who want to play to come and try out.

Calgary Chaos head coach Derek Loomer says having Cochrane girls on the team is an integral part of its relationship to the community.

"We're just moving into the area, we don't know a lot of the girls here," he says. "In the big picture of things, we really want to encourage those girls to be a part of our organization. It's our goal to be a part of the community, having girls from the community is a very important part of that connection. We're hoping we can get a lot of girls that we can help develop from their younger ages right through."

The tryouts will run two sessions each day with two groups involving a practice format as well as intersquad games.

"There will be a lot of flow drills, power skating, getting the girls used to the stick, passing, all the general basic skills, and then hopefully introduce some competition for game situations."

Loomer says the Chaos are hoping for a 30 girl roster for its upcoming exhibition games on Sept. 17 and 18 at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre, from there the roster will be narrowed down.

The first fall tryout camp will begin the week of Sep. 10.
