A wide range of art genres is featured in the newest exhibition at the Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery, #18 312-5th Ave.

The Route 22 Interchange opens this Tuesday (July 14) at 10 a.m. It includes the creative works of 20 artists in stained glass, bronze sculpture, woodturning, photography, and acrylic, oil and watercolour painting.

The final pieces were being hanged on Monday, and Gallery Director Lara Kruger says the exhibition is impressive.

"There's a really nice mix of styles and subjects. It's definitely looking good," she says.

As always, all the art displayed has passed through an Artist Collective jury process. That makes the collective gallery attractive to both buyers and artists.

On Saturday (July 18) there's an open invitation to enjoy some COVID-10-conscious refreshments to celebrate the opening of the new exhibition.

This is the first one, says Kruger, and they will become a mainstay for future openings.

"It's an opportunity for all the artists that are in the display to give their friends and family a destination to come to check it all out, see what we've got up, and hopefully purchase some work."

"There will be an opportunity to mix with some of the artists who will be on display."

It has been just one month since the gallery was opened by the Cochrane Integrated Arts Society (CIAS). The gallery is located next to Pet Planet in the Cochrane Town Square Mall. The impressive showcase is refreshed every month.

Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery also features a gift shop for smaller works.

The size of the artist collective continues to grow, says CIAS president Jane Kaczmer. It currently numbers 36.

She says there's a wow factor to the gallery.

"The people walk in. and they stop and catch their breath because it's so good, it's so impressive. They walk in and go, 'Wow, does this place ever look fabulous!."

Hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It's closed on Mondays.
