The Town of Cochrane wants to recognize a young person who makes a difference in our town because of their volunteer or leadership contributions.

You can nominate a kid or youth for Youth ROCS (Recognized for Outstanding Community Spirit) until April 16.

Deb Maxwell, FCSS Community Programmer with the Town of Cochrane says they're looking for people to nominate

"It's an event where you nominate a youth who makes a difference in our community through their volunteer and leadership contributions."

She says it's a cool experience for the kids who are nominated.

"The Mayor visits and sometimes the MLA and you get a certificate recognizing that you've been nominated. Youth don't know that they've been nominated until closer to the awards ceremony. So that's kind of cool too that they show up and there's food."

"They get to be just acknowledged for something that they've done volunteering or contribution or community spirit so it's a really warm fuzzy event."

There is a maximum of two nominations per school, organization, or by an individual.

There will be an event for the individuals who are nominated and their families in May.
