The Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL) has set a tentative Oct. 28 start date for its 2020-21 season.

They've also agreed upon a 24-game schedule that will be firmed up at an Aug. 30 league meeting.

Cochrane Generals head coach and manager Kurtis Jones says the Gens will open their training camp the first week of October. Hlding it earlier, he believes, would be counter productive.

In the meantime, Jones has been scouting potential roster additions.

"We have a lot of interest,": he says. "I've been to four different scouting camps."

The team will have a healthy number of returning players, including their top offensive and defensive players.

In the league's south division, all teams are returning, except the High River Flyers, who have opted to take a year leave of absence.

In the north division, the Three Hill Thrashers will be returning to the league after sitting out last season.

More details should be known after the Aug. 30 league meeting.
