Parenting is a job that comes with many challenges, and this holds especially true during a pandemic. We are all navigating unfamiliar waters all while trying our best to help our kids navigate their fears.

The Family Resource Network is a new local agency under the Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) umbrella.

Tessa Davidson is a Family Support Worker with the new agency, and she says that they are planning an event that will be a valuable resource for parents during this unprecedented time.

"Through COVID everyone's been so isolated and we wanted to offer a session that was real," says Davidson. "This is what everyone's experiencing right now. This is a shared experience, we're going through COVID together."

Davidson says that the event entitled: 'Parenting During A Pandemic' will be an opportunity for parents to connect, share their successes and struggles during the pandemic and gain some new knowledge.

"We just want parents there to connect and be able to talk candidly about their experiences with the pandemic and how they've been managing and learn something new."

Davidson will be a speaker at the event, along with fellow colleague Eleanor Maher.

"We are both trained in the Triple P - Positive Parenting Program," says Davidson. "This information is all based from Triple P. It's an evidence-based parenting program that a lot of parents have benefitted from within this community, province and around the world."

The free event is geared towards parents of kids between the ages of five and 12. It is taking place at the Bragg Creek Community Centre on October 15 from 6:30 to 8 pm.

Davidson says that they will be following COVID-19 safety measures. The event is limited to 20 spaces and registration is required to attend.
