The Cochrane Alliance Church is opening it's arms and inviting the community to come hear what they're all about.

Pizza with the Pastors is an event the church holds every few months for those shopping around for a new church, or anyone interested in learning about it.

Cochrane Alliance Church Pastor of People Care Larry Charter shares it's important to learn about a church, what it stands for, and what it can offer.

"I think nowadays people are just a bit wary about the church in general," he says. "Even people who are used to going to church, if they're new in the community, and in Cochrane we have a lot of new people moving in. We have a lot of people who do come by our church to see if it's a place they'd really like to be. "

Pastor Charter says the event is an informal meal that provides an opportunity to connect with staff in a relaxed atmosphere.

"Rather than just saying hello one time, and we'll see ya, we hold these luncheons for anyone who is relatively new, or just interested in knowing what our church would have to offer. We just sit and talk and answer their questions."

He explains the church would love to explain what they're about to people in the community, and they will not be pressured to join.

"It's not a gimmicky thing, we tell them up front that we're not laying a any traps, or that we're going to check up and see if they came back. If they find another place to worship more attractive to them then so be it, but we want them to know that they're welcome at our church as well. "

Pizza with the Pastors will be held at Bow Valley Baptist Church, as the Cochrane Alliance Church is undergoing renovations.
