A 35-year-old woman has been transported to the Foothills Hospital in serious, life-threatening condition after being struck in the parking lot of Mark's No Frills on 5th Ave, in Cochrane early this afternoon.

She had been walking across the parking lot when struck by a Ford Edge SUV driven by an 83-year-old female driver.

The driver remained on scene and has spoken with investigators, as did several other witnesses, says Cpl. Curtis Peters, of the RCMP.

Families of both parties have been notified.

"If there are any additional witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police, we would like them to get in touch with the Cochrane RCMP," says Cpl. Peters

"If there are any witnesses or people who are impacted by this collision that think they would like to speak to Victim Services, they are also welcome to give us a call."

As well, anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision is asked to contact the Cochrane detachment.

The Cochrane RCMP and Victim Services can both be reached at 403-851-8000.
