Alberta Education Minister Adrianna LaGrange announced today that three updated drafts for K-6 curriculums will be available for classroom piloting this September. The pilot curriculums will include Science, French First Language and Literature, and French Immersion Language Arts and Literature.

School authorities will be given the choice to pilot the three updated K-6 subjects with students in classrooms this fall. The same authorities will need to identify their intent as to whether they will participate in the classroom piloting including how many teachers will be involved in implementing the subjects and the grade levels that will be piloted.

There will be an opportunity for Albertans to provide feedback on the pilot draft curriculum and that information will be used to complete final updates to the subjects prior to their implementation for the 2023-24 school year.

The pilot curriculums will be introduced in addition to the three curriculums being implemented in September of this year which include, K-3 English Language Arts and Literature, K-3 math, and K-3 Physical Education and wellness.
