Airdrie-Cochrane MLA Peter Guthrie says the tender for the Hwy. 1A-22 interchange isn't expected to be issued until the fall but that work can take place over the winter months.

Guthrie says the pipeline utility agreements have yet to be finalized and the tender can't be issued until they're in place.

"The transportation department is very confident that they're going to get that all done," says Guthrie. "It just hasn't been moving at the pace, at least that I would like to see, as well as many constituents."

What's currently being completed is pre-construction work that is expected to be wrapped up in July.

"I think it shows they are putting their best foot forward. They are committed to it and are spending money. This is going to cost a lot in order to move that soil and get the preparation going."

Transportation officials have assured Guthrie the outstanding agreements will be wrapped up no later than the fall.

Alberta Transportation has also indicated they will be able to start work in the winter.

"So it doesn't have to be spring. It can be in the dead of winter when they get going."
