Citizens may notice Escort Training throughout Calgary today ahead of Papal visit.

The traffic sections from the RCMP, Calgary Police Service and the Edmonton Police Service will all be participating in the training today.

"Citizens can expect to see motorcycle officers and other marked police vehicles escorting a large motorcade throughout Calgary. The scenario-based training will require the officers to constantly employ emergency lights and sirens," stated a post on the Calgary Police Facebook page.

Officers are encouraging drivers to move towards the nearest curb when they see a police vehicle approach with lights and sirens operating. Drivers are being reminded to obey all directions which may be given by officers.

"Motorists can expect very minor traffic delays and we appreciate your cooperation as we conduct this necessary and important training with our partners."

Pope Francis will be in Alberta from July 24 to 27.
