Springbank Middle School (SMS) is reporting a confirmed case of COVID-19.

In a letter sent home to parents yesterday, Acting School Principal, Stacy Pothier states that the school received notification of the positive case over the weekend.

The letter states that the school is working closely with Alberta Health Services (AHS) to ensure that necessary precautions are taken to protect students and staff.

Any students or staff members who are believed to be a close contact with the individual who has tested positive have been notified and provided with additional information on mandatory isolation.

Pothier stresses that screening for illness is an essential part of Rocky View Schools’ safety strategies in order to slow the spread of the virus.

She is reminding families not to send students to school if they are unwell and she strongly recommends referring to the 'Should I go to School Today Flow Chart' before heading out the door each day. You can find the flow chart here.

Additional cleaning of the facility has already taken place and SMS will remain open for in-class learning.
