People's Party of Canada (PPC) leader Maxime Bernier is in Cochrane for a two-hour town hall with local candidate Nadine Wellwood at the Cochrane Lions Event Centre on Monday, Aug. 30 from 4 to 6 p.m.

PPC candidate Nadine Wellwood says there will be a couple of short speeches, but the focus is primarily on listening to residents and answering their questions.

"We're going to do a lot of mingling, so that's the two hours. Max is going to speak for a very short time, I'm going to speak for a short time, but this is really an opportunity for people to ask questions and get answers."

Bernier was the only national leader to visit Cochrane during the 2019 election. That event has a similar format.

"This is an important election, and they want to hear from him, and once again Maxime is the only national leader who's ever taken the time to come to these small ridings and make himself accessible to everyday people."

Bernier and Wellwood head to Airdrie for a similar town hall in Airdrie afterward.

PPC candidate Wellwood is making her second attempt to unseat long-time incumbent Conservative Blake Richards.
