PPC leader Max Bernier is in the Springbank area on Friday night (July 15) for a family barbecue and serving up a Stampede Breakfast in Calgary on Saturday.

The national leader is here in a non-election year to catch up with people in a casual setting, says Nadine Wellwood, the local PPC candidate.

"Max feels it's very important to meet with the people and give people a chance to speak with him throughout the year," says Wellwood. "He's definitely approachable and accessible to everybody."

It's largely a chance for one-on-one discussions with Bernier, but he is expected to say a few words.

"He'll speak a bit about what these last two years have been and what's best for us, and what our plans are to continue spreading the PPC message and moving forward. He'll be there to answer people's questions and have some fun."

Bernier will also provide some insight into what occurred on Parliament Hill during the Trucker Convoy.

The barbecue runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and is being held at 244082 RR 32, just north of Springbank Rd. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and snacks will be provided and DJ Wild Bill will be providing the music. People are asked to bring their lawn chairs.

The breakfast runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon at the CKE Community Centre at 1015 73 Ave. SW in Calgary.
