The South won their third consecutive Senior Bowl title with five Cochrane players and three coaches making significant contributions on and off the field.

The 26-15 victory, of course, was sweet, but the game was as much about the future as it was about raising the cup.

All five Cochrane players are now preparing for football after high school and three will remain together after signing with the Calgary Dinos. The Cochrane High star quarterback is venturing to Queens University to bear the red, blue and gold of the Golden Gaels and yet another has joined the Calgary Colts junior team after cracking the South team roster.

Exactly where Cobras quarterback Tae Gordon would play post-secondary football was a question answered after the Monday tiff. While he hasn't officially signed, he plans to head to Queen's University in Kingston, ON.

"I've talked to them, everything is good to go, so I'll be wearing the Tricolours next year," says Gordon.

Any mixed feelings he had about seeing his last high school football disappeared during the course of the four-day finale.

"It's a little bittersweet playing my last high school game, but with this group of guys it was unbelieveable. The whole weekend was great, unreal group, easy to get along with, for sure."

Zach Rabe is joining the U of C Dinos receiving corps and it follows on the footsteps of a sensational game changing reception in the Senior Bowl.

"They're a powerhouse, they're good, they're a disciplined team," said Rube of the Dinos.

He's taking with him many memories of the players he has shared the field with for many years to win three consecutive provincial championships.

"I will miss it, it was too fun to not miss, but then I've got the university and I'll substitute it with that."

Runningback Brad Hillier was the first member of the Bow Valley Bobcats to break the Senior Bowl roster in years and he went in with eyes wide open as he prepares to play for junior football for the Calgary Colts.

"It was surprising to be in this situation, too. The football experience I've had has been awesome, but it wasn't at this level."

Now in front of him is the challenge of making the Colts travel roster.

"I want to get better. If I can play with the Colts, learn a few things, I'd be happy."

Dean Lang has been coaching football for 15 years with both the Lions and the Bow Valley Bobcats and being part of the coaching staff of the South team was another chance to give back to a sport that's a big part of his life.

"It was a great experience," says Lang. "To go from minor football and just helping out to coaching at this level is incredible."

"I think football is a great sport. Football is been very good to me and so that's why I do it, to give something back."

Cobras Dylan Gingrich-Hadley and Kane Boklaschuk also play for the South and have been signed by the U of C Dinos.
