Harvest for major crops is sitting at about a third of the way complete in Alberta as of the beginning of the month according to latest crop report from Alberta Agriculture and Forestry.

In the Department's report released last Friday citing conditions as of Tuesday, October 1, they say Southern Alberta has nearly 80 per cent of their major crops harvested.

Considering the recent dump of snow in the region which stretched to some areas in Central Alberta, harvest is only about four per cent behind the Southern Alberta five year average.

However, it's a bit of a slow go for other areas of the province according to the report, with the provincial pace about 20 per cent behind the five year average.

Central Alberta is trailing its five year average by 24 per cent, the North East by 25 per cent, the North West behind 18 per cent and the Peace Region mostly noticeably behind by 34 per cent.
