Heads up, your radio, tv, and phone will be going loud Wednesday afternoon.

The Alert Ready system is set for its biannual testing on Wednesday, May 4. The public test will be broadcast across most provinces and territories.

The test will simulate an emergency alert, including the Canadian Alert Attention Signal, a loud tone that will be played from your device. The message will state it’s a test and does not require any action from the public.

“While Alert Ready may be most known in some provinces for the distribution of AMBER Alerts to the public, it is also designed to deliver other critical and potentially lifesaving, including but not limited to tornado, flooding, fire, and civil emergency warnings.” reads a statement on the Ready Alert website.

Cochrane and all of Alberta can expect the test to be conducted at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
