Heads up, your radio, tv, and phone will be going loud this afternoon.

The Alert Ready system will be tested today at 1:55 p.m. in Cochrane. The public test will be enacted across the majority of provinces and territories in Canada.

The test will simulate an emergency alert, including the Canadian Alert Attention Signal, which will be played loudly from your device.

“While Alert Ready may be most known in some provinces for the distribution of AMBER Alerts to the public, it is also designed to deliver other critical and potentially lifesaving, including but not limited to tornado, flooding, fire, and civil emergency warnings.” reads a statement on the Ready Alert website.

The message will state that it is a test and that no action from the public is required.
