After four weeks of postponing their ride, organizers from Cruise Cochrane say The County Cruise is a go for this Saturday -rain or shine!

Classic car owners who have been itching to get out for a ride can join Cruise Cochrane this Saturday morning to enjoy the scenic back roads of the Counties of Rocky View, Mountain View and Red Deer.

Cruise Cochrane isn't quite a car club, but rather a series of events in the Cochrane area that take place when the weather permits, and after four weeks of being rained out -  Saturday`s forecast is calling for lots of sunshine and a high of 26 degrees.

Cruise organizer Jim Messner says "We'll be meeting between 10:30 and 10:45 in the 100 block of Griffin Road. We'll meet and form up and park along the road there, then at 11 am sharp we'll be heading out on our cruise."

Back in May, they had over 200 classic cars participate in a tour to all four of the major senior care centres in Cochrane; to honk, wave, and bring a smile to the faces of seniors in the community.

American hot rods, classics, and muscle cars of all makes and models are invited to join this weekend's cruise. Messner says that it`s a great chance for car enthusiasts to come out and get a glimpse of some pretty incredible classic cars.

"The best thing they can do is head over to the new Petro-Can and A&W restaurant there on Griffin Road up River Avenue. You can stop there, have a coffee, park in the parking lot there and see all the cars as they come and go."

Fingers crossed that fifth time's a charm! Messner says that unless there is a downpour during the 10:30 am meet up, the cruise will go on, and he's looking forward to a really great day on the road.

"We look forward to meeting lots of new cruisers out there and seeing all the bright and shiny cars and just looking forward to having a fun day out in the beautiful blue skies of Alberta."

While cruise organizers do encourage public participation they are also reminding participants to follow AHS guidelines surrounding COVID-19.
