The expected heavy rainfall for the next couple of days has not only prompted a Special Weather Statement, but Environment Canada has also issued a Rainfall Warning for our area.

According to the national weather service, we could see a "Prolonged and significant rainfall event" that could bring 75 to 125 mm of rainfall by Wednesday morning.

The rain is set to start in the southwestern part of the province on Sunday evening and spread north on Monday morning, with the heaviest rainfall being on Monday.

The rain will stick around until Wednesday.

Some areas could get 150 mm of rain or more.

Because of the large amount of rain, flash floods and pooling on roads is possible.

Also included in the Rainfall Warning is:

  • Mountain View Co. near Carstairs and Stirlingville
  • Mountain View Co. near Cremona and Water Valley
  • Mountain View Co. near Olds and Didsbury
  • Mountain View Co. near Sundre
