UPDATE: Regular traffic flow has resumed. Emergency vehicles remain on the scene but no further closures are anticipated.

Cochrane RCMP is currently on scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision on Hwy. 1 between Morley Rd. and Ozada Rd.

Shortly, westbound traffic will be interrupted for approximately a half-hour where no westbound traffic will flow between Morley Rd. and Ozada Rd.  Motorists can access Highway 1A at Morley Rd. as an alternate route.

Following the temporary westbound closure, eastbound traffic on Hwy. 1 will be interrupted between Ozada Road and Morley Road for approximately a half-hour.  Motorists can access Hwy. 1 at the Hwy. 1X exit as an alternate route.

"At approximately 10 a.m., Cochrane RCMP responded to a vehicle in a field adjacent to the highway," says Cpl. Tammy Keibel, RCMP media relations officer. "An adult male was located in proximity to the vehicle, believed to be the driver, who had been ejected as the result of a rollover motor vehicle collision. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene."

The RCMP collision reconstructionist and emergency personnel were in attendance and remained there until late in the afternoon.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

Cpl. Keibel says no further updates are anticipated.
