Three youth, one from Airdrie and two from Calgary; have been charged following an armed robbery near the Bayside Business Plaza in Airdrie on August 20. 

RCMP were called to the Airdrie plaza following a report that three youth were approached by a group of males outside of a business and robbed of a cell phone and an undisclosed amount of money.  

During the robbery, the suspects displayed replica firearms and canisters of bear spray to the victims.  No one was injured during the incident and the suspects then proceeded to flee the area on foot. 

Members of the Airdrie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit were able to quickly contain the area and located the three suspects. 

During the arrest, RCMP recovered two replica handguns and two canisters of bear spray. 

Upon further investigation by the Airdrie RCMP the three youth were charged with the following offences: 

The 17-year-old male from Calgary:

  • Robbery with a Firearm
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Resisting arrest.

The 16-year-old male from Calgary

  • Robbery with a Firearm 

The 16-year old male from Airdrie

  • Robbery with a Firearm
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
  • Carrying a concealed weapon.

The suspects are minors and can't be named.
