Cochrane RCMP continue their investigation into a fatal pedestrian collision on Hwy. 1 that occurred in the early hours of Feb. 18.

RCMP and emergency medical personnel responded to a report at 1:45 a.m. that a pedestrian had been struck on the Trans-Canada Hwy. near Hermitage Rd. and located a female in her 30s having injuries consistent with being impacted by a vehicle.

The lone occupant of the Hyundai SUV was uninjured.

Tragically, the female pedestrian was pronounced deceased in the hospital as a result of the injuries sustained.

Fifteen minutes earlier, the Cochrane RCMP responded to a complaint of a pedestrian walking in and out of traffic along Hwy. 1 and had been searching for the person when the second call was received. 

The investigation continues with the assistance of the RCMP collision analyst.
