This morning at 7:55 a.m, Cochrane RCMP received a report of a drowning at Harmony Lake, the site of the swimming portion of the Ironman race being held today. 

The victim, a 47 year old man from Ontario, was spotted by Ironman race volunteers in the lake. Volunteers pulled the victim from the water, began CPR, and called EMS. Unfortunately the victim died on scene.

It has been confirmed the victim was a participant in the Ironman race. 

RCMP have contacted the medical examiner who will be assisting in determining a cause of death. 

Next of kin has been notified.
