Alberta RCMP has released a report on the #SeasonForCaring safe road campaign that covers the period from December 24, 2022, to January 2, 2023.

During that time, RCMP carried out enforcement initiatives and issued a total of 2,296 traffic tickets across the province. Additionally, 172 impaired driving charges were laid bringing the total offences to 2,468. The 172 impaired drivers were removed from the roads by way of provincial Immediate Roadside Sanctions.

The breakdown of the offences saw 707 people ticketed for speeding, and 45 were charged with distracted driving.

Additionally, 1,544 motorists received tickets for traffic safety violations which included careless driving, driving with a prohibited or suspended licence, moving offences and more.
