Rival Boxing Gym in Cochrane is all about transformation.

The gym known for its heavy bag and fast feet workout is now offering up an all over workout for individuals looking to gain athleticism on a variety of levels.

CrossFit Uppercut is coming to Rival, Level 1 CrossFit Trainer Anne Garrido shares it is the most all inclusive workout.

"It is designed to get people fit, it is designed to get people ready for anything and everything. It's including gymnastics movements that goes from pushups to pull ups on the bar to rings. It goes to pure cardio, so running, jumping, skipping. It also includes some weight lifting, with kettlebells or barbells, rope climbing. It 's a whole bunch of different things that all come together, the workouts are super different everyday and it works on many different skills to get people fit."

Garrido, says it is not highly specialized as a sport but it is a great way to get in shape and is scaled to each individual's fitness level.

"Boxing for example it is very specialized; it is a high set of skills you have to master. CrossFit is kind of the opposite, because it takes you everywhere that you can imagine; one day you are going to have to do deadlifts, the next day you are climbing the ropes, the next day you're doing pull ups, squats, and sit ups.

Bringing CrossFit Uppercut to the gym will not only offer non boxers a great workout, Garrido shares it is a complementary work out to their existing programs.

"It is a good complement,  when you want to be fit enough to fight or to box to punch a bag you need to have a general level of fitness. So crossFit, that is obvious, is going to be so good to complement the boxing training."

Garrido anticipates the class will be a sell out. If you would like more information on the program you can find it here.
