RCMP have laid charges after a man was shot at a rural Rockyview County property Saturday afternoon. 

Officers were called out to the home at approximately 1:14 p.m. after a verbal altercation turned violent when the suspect grabbed a firearm and shot the victim in the leg. 

The suspect then fled the scene. 

The victim was transported to a Calgary hospital via STARS air ambulance where he underwent surgery. He is now in stable condition. 

Police say the suspect returned to the scene and surrendered to police. He was then arrested without incident and charged.

Thirty-four-year-old Ryan Wade Nolan of Rockyview County is facing the following offences, Aggravated Assault, Discharge a firearm with intent, Pointing a firearm and Careless use of a firearm.

Nolan has been remanded into custody and is set to appear in Airdrie Provincial Court on May 19, 2022.
