COVID-19 has once again closed the county hall of Rocky View County (RVC) and forcing several meetings to be rescheduled.

RVC has announced the county hall will be closed to public access as of Dec. 7 until further notice. County officials, though, will continue to be available by phoning 403-230-1401 or emailing questions@rockyview.ca.

The measure is being taken as a result of the recently announced targeted health measures ordered by the province.

The Dec. 8 county council meeting has been cancelled and public hearings scheduled for both Dec. 8 and 22 will be rescheduled for the New Year.

Other adjustments announced include:

  • The Dec. 22 council meeting will be held electronically. It will be live-streamed, but public attendance in chambers will not be permitted. All general business and closed session items from Dec. 8 will be rescheduled to Dec. 22.

  • Council meetings in the New Year will be online until further notice. Further updates regarding procedures on public participation will be made available.

  • The Municipal Planning Commission meeting on Dec. 10 will be held electronically and live-streamed. Applicants can speak and must register in advance with RVC's Legislative Services in order to do so. You can email legislativeservices@rockyview.ca.

  • The Subdivision & Development Appeal Board meetings on Dec. 16 and Dec. 17 will also be held electronically.

The county was previously forced to close its hall in March due to the pandemic and reopened in May, first with limited capacity.
