While the snow and rain this past weekend may not have been welcomed with open arms, the moisture has lessened the fire risk in Rocky View county.

County Fire Services has now downgraded its fire ban to a fire advisory.

While Rocky View County isn't currently in extreme fire danger at this time, officials say that high-risk conditions remain in the area. Burning permits are still suspended and burning is banned, with the following exceptions:

  • Household fireplaces
  • Incinerators (for farm and acreage use)
  • Camp stoves
  • Barbecues (charcoal briquettes, propane, or natural gas)
  • Propane/natural gas fire pit
  • Recreational campfires (approved burn pit 24” in diameter or less)
  • Chimeneas
  • Fires contained within approved facilities and appliances in designated camping and recreational areas

County residents are urged to use their good judgement, as the advisory will remain in effect as long as high-risk conditions continue in the surrounding areas.
