The Rocky View Schools (RVS) Division has announced the appointment of 10 new principals for the 2021/22 school year.

RVS Superintendent, Greg Luterbach says that the newly appointed leaders are highly skilled and qualified. He says they have approximately 227 combined total years of experience in education.

"I’m proud to watch these educators progress in their careers as they assume leadership roles across the jurisdiction," says Luterbach. "These administrators each have a long history of success in RVS and have demonstrated their strong commitment to the students, staff and families in each of the schools they have served. I look forward to seeing how they use their particular leadership skills to strengthen the educational experience and culture at their respective schools."

Among the new principals is Lynette LePan-Smith, who will be stepping in as Principal of RancheView School in Cochrane.

LePan-Smith joined the jurisdiction as a teacher at the Rocky View Learning Connection School in Cochrane in 2009. Since then she has worked as an administrator with RVS, Assistant Principal at Springbank Middle School, and for the past three years she has been working as Assistant Principal at Herons Crossing.

Jonathon Klinger will move from his current Assistant Principal role at Cochrane's RancheView School into the role of Principal at Westbrook School next year. Klinger worked as a teacher at Crossfield Elementary and Mitford, before assuming his current role at RancheView School in 2016.

After a year of leading Springbank Middle School as Acting Principal, Mary Magee will officially step into that role. Magee has worked with the RVS division since 1999, holding teaching positions at Mitford School and Springbank Middle School. She joined the ranks of RVS administrators in 2012 when she became the Assistant Principal at Banded Peak School, and she later moved to Mitford. In 2019, Magee accepted the role of acting principal at Manachaban Middle School.

RVS has also added 12 new assistant principals to its administrative ranks, and six assistant principals will take over postings at different schools in the fall.
