While face masks will now be required by Calgary public and catholic schools for youth in K to 3 classrooms, Rocky View Schools continues to monitor the situation.

RVS superintendent Greg Luterbach says they are currently following the directive provided by the province on Aug. 4, but it continues to be one of the topics discussed as school re-entry draws closer.

He says from the questions being asked, they realize there are people on all sides of the masks issues.

"I know trustees are meeting again next week with administration and we'll continue conversations about masking, looking at the advice we're getting from the chief medical officer of health, what we're hearing from the Alberta government and where things are at, so that will be an ongoing topic of discussion."

He says school re-entry plans continue to evolve and as RVS continues to building those plans they remain open to revisiting the topic, and wieghing the information provided.

On Aug. 4, the Alberta Government announced it would be mandatory for all students from grades 4 to 12 to be masked.
