Rocky View Schools has forwarded a letter to parents and guardians penned by Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's Chief Medical Officer of Health.

In the letter, Dr. Hinshaw addresses some of the questions and concerns parents may have about their children 12 years of age and older receiving a COVID-19 vaccine.

Hinshaw often refers to her own experience as a parent and empathizes with others over the concerns that they may have regarding COVID-19.

In the letter, Alberta’s top doctor re-iterates the safety of the COVID vaccines being used and suggests the best way to manage worries is to be properly informed.

The letter provides access points to trusted information.

For reliable information about the COVID-19 vaccines you can go to any of the following websites: Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services- COVID-19 Information for Albertans, and the Government of Canada. Resources in 13 other languages are also available. Hinshaw says, “I encourage you to speak to your/your child’s healthcare provider if you have any questions about your own health and the COVID-19 vaccines.”’

Of course, all the information that Dr. Hinshaw relays in the letter can be found at alberta.ca including the numerous ways in which parents and guardians can book an appointment for their children.
