Morgan Nagel is starting his third term on council as the favourite candidate in the municipal election.

In fact, all six elected town councillors finished in the same order as the 2017 election.

The only difference is Alex Reed won the sixth seat by more votes this time. He only squeaked in by seven votes over Dan Cunin in 2017. This time it was by a 78-vote margin over seventh place Paul Singh.

The results indicate a vote of confidence in the work of the council elected in 2017.

In total, 6,842 votes were cast presenting 33 per cent of eligible voters based on municipal population estimates by the Office of Statistics and Information at Alberta Treasury Board and Finance.  

Mayor Jeff Genung, who was elected by acclamation, and council will be sworn in on Oct. 25.

Election results become official at noon on Oct. 22.
