Another tragedy at Spray Valley Provincial Park this summer.

A man from Calgary is presumed drowned after jumping into Spray Lakes in Kananaskis Country on the weekend in an attempt to go after his dog.

Canmore RCMP were called out to the area on Sunday evening at around 7 p.m.

Mounties say the man was fishing with family members when their dog jumped from the boat. The man then jumped into the water but neither the man or the dog resurfaced.

Kananaskis Emergency Services, Alberta Conservation Officers, Canmore Fire Rescue, Alberta Fish and Wildlife Officer and the RCMP responded to the area to search for the drowning victims. RCMP are continuing their search efforts.

Canmore RCMP are asking the public to avoid the south end of Spray Lakes while search efforts continue with the added assistance of the Central Alberta Rescue Diving Society (CARDS).

Three people drowned in the same lake earlier this summer.

An update is expected to be sent when further information becomes available.
