Second Annual Cruz4Her fundraiser set for Saturday, August 28

It was such a great success the first time around that they decided to do it again!  

The second annual Cruz4Her will be hitting the road on Saturday, August 28. 

The purpose of the charity cruise is to raise awareness and funds for Big Hill Haven women’s shelter. Cruise enthusiasts of every kind, no matter what model of transportation, are welcome to join in on a great day of cruising through the Rocky Mountains.  

The event is made possible by Cruise Cochrane and title sponsor Cochrane GM.  Rob Dzikewich, General Manager of Cochrane GM says, “Cochrane GM wants to support organizations that aid the community. That is why we jumped at the opportunity to sponsor the Cruz-4-Her in support of Big Hill Haven.”  

Jim Messner of Cruise Cochrane says, “Cruise Cochrane is proud to be back for the annual Cruz-4-Her. Last year we had so much fun. I’m sure even more people will join us in 2021. It’s an amazing event for a great cause.” You can join in the fun by taking a cruise or sponsoring a participant either way, your donation is tax deductible with a receipt issued.

Sadly, the COVID19 pandemic exacerbated the growing problem of domestic violence across the country, and Cochrane and area have seen an increase in domestic violence cases. Tara McFadden, Fund Development Officer for Big Hill Haven, says while there has been an increase in cases what is even more concerning is the escalation of violence and increased complexity of cases being seen by Big Hill Haven. That in turn requires more resources to deal with the disturbing trend in domestic violence cases. The pandemic also made it more difficult to fundraise so McFadden says, “We are so grateful for community support. We expect this year’s cruise to be even more successful than last year. Every dollar raised will make difference.” 

The goal of $15,000 has been set by organizers and if you are interested in taking part, registration for the event is a minimum donation of $50.00.  

Cruz4Her happens on Saturday, August 28 starting at 11 a.m. from Cochrane GM and heading through the Highwood Pass and wrapping up around 5 p.m.
