Participation for Show Your Ride for Brandon Thomas Jr., not only continues to grow, but revs up awareness to end impaired driving.

The third annual event being held on August 28, will see it's biggest crowd yet, as more participants and sponsors step forward to say NO excuse for driving under the influence.

2015 brought out 600 vehicles, Kim Thomas, Brandon's mom says they are hoping to have 1000 vehicles in 2016, and registrants can show whatever they like.

"We are taking any vehicles- daily drivers to Lamborghini's, we are taking bikes and quads and everything in between, there is no specification on what can be entered into as a show vehicle."

The cost to register your vehicle is $20, with monies raised supporting four different organizations this year with hopes of hitting a $20,000 goal.

"SAIT will continue to get money every year, that will go to the endowment in Brandon's name for the mechanics program. We have also allotted funds to Cochrane High in the mechanics program, the other cause is a 'Show Your Ride for Brandon: Victims Fund that will go to families who have lost children to impaired drivers. That will go for counselling, funeral costs- it alleviates a little bit of your day to day expenses. Our final cause is research for mitochondrial disease."

Thomas says while the event celebrates Brandon's life, the message they continue to drive home is to not drink and drive.

"It's a 100% preventable crime, it rips innocent victims from their lives and families that are left suffering forever. It doesn't have to happen. Everyone deserves to get home safe to their family."

Besides 1000 vehicles to look over, there will be quite a bit of sideline entertainment this year.

"We've got great attractions coming this year, we've got a crane from McIntyre Cranes in Calgary, they will be able to take people up in their bucket. We've got CCMR bringing their mobile dyno, Zeebs doing Battle of the techs, the Y.I.E.L.D Association that is division of the RCMP, we've got a truck club doing some face painting, the A&W Root Bear."

This year's event is at the U of C located at Collegiate Boulevard NW and Collegiate Road NW; registration begins at 7 am and the show will run from 10 am until 5 pm; while there is no cost to enjoy the show, donations are welcome.
