The Rockyview Silvertips remain on track to finish first in the central division of Jr. B Tier 1 lacrosse with a huge 15-14 overtime win against the Okotoks Marauders, June 30.

With time against them, one goal behind, and playing 4-on-4 against the Marauders, the Tips pulled out all the stops to tie in the match with just two seconds remaining in regulation.

Head coach Tyler Waycott says they pulled their goalie to go 5-4 and offensive coach Jason Oakey drew up a play that the team executed with precision.

The Tips completed the comeback with the game-winner at 4:23 of overtime by Owen MacCarthy, his second goal of the night. Central division scoring leader Nolan Oakley assisted, who was on a scoring rampage with five goals and four assists.

The Tips have a 12-point lead on the second-place Calgary Chill, but the Chill have three games in hand heading into weekend play.

Tonight, the Tips are in Olds to take on the Mavericks before returning home Sunday to host the Red Deer Rampage at Totem One at 3 p.m.

After the weekend, they have one game remaining in the regular schedule at home against the Manitoba Blizzard on July 9 at 7 p.m.
