The Rockyview Silvertips rallied for an important win over the Calgary Chill last night to expand upon their lead in the Jr. B Tier 1 central division of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL).

Down 4-1 in the early going after landing only a few shots, the Tips clawed back into the game to come within one at the end of the first and went ahead 5-3 after two. The game was tied 11-11 when Cole Morris scored the winner with 2:44 remaining with his fourth goal of the night.

It was the fifth straight win for the Tips and gives them a commanding eight-point league in the central division heading into Sunday's road game against the Edmonton Warriors.

The Tips are on the verge of clinching a playoff spot and it could come as early as this weekend.

Cochrane player Foster Stainthorpe is among those thrilled with the success the team has been enjoying.

"I'm super proud of the guys for stepping up. We're 13 games into the season, we already have nine wins and we're on pace for the best season yet," says Stainthrope, in his fourth season with the club.

Team captain and central division scoring leader Nolan Oakey says the team has rebounded from a slow start.

"We're really buzzing right now, and it was a good win today. There were a couple of battles and we came out on top. It's good for the team."

Alternate captain Noah Deitz says the turnaround point came on a goal by Nate Shaback.

"He definitely helped us get going. After that goal, I felt our bench was fired up. It lit a spark under their behinds and the guys got going after that."

Adam Bartolome, also an alternate captain, says the Chill are long-time rivals of the Tips and the players have a little more bounce in their step when facing them.

Sunday's game is the first against the Warriors this season.

"We hear they're a good team, and we're not going to underestimate them," says alternate captain Mathew Drivet-Legault, now in his third season with the club. "We're going to stick with what we do, and come out with the W."

The Tips host the Mountain View Mavericks on June 24 for a 7 p.m. game. After that, they hit the road for three games before wrapping up their regular season here against the Red Deer Rampage on July 3.
